Another 10 minutes went by and he said they couldn't figure it out and I should call back in two hours. After 10 minutes he came back and said they were having the same problem on a monitor in their office and they were trying to solve the problem. He said that didn't sound right and asked me to hold. On the second call I told the tech that I couldn't access the "CUSTOM SCALING" adjustment in the "IMAGE CONTROL" section of the menu which, according to the manual, should fix this sort of thing. Of the three calls, they all told me it was my graphics card, but couldn't explain why the signal from the DVD player hooked directly into the HDMI input also had the edges cut off since it did not invovle the computer at all. I decided to give tech support one more try tonight since I really like the look of this monitor (except when I can't see 3/4 inches of the edges in HDMI mode). Why pay the money for an HD device if the HD cuts off the edges? I know this makes me sound dumb, but I don't want the scores along the top or the stat crawls on the bottom to be cut off when I watch sports (when I get an HD cable box). It's disappointing because the picture is very nice. Unfortunately, I can only conclued it's the HP monitor or software.

Even the guy in the store was surprised and said he would warn people before they bought the HP monitor that it might happen.

I've played the computer through a 1080 projector and two other 1080 monitors via the HDMI cable and they all showed full picture edge to edge without scaling down or lowering the resolution.Īt Office Max, we hooked a computer to several dispaly monitors - an HP 2310 like mine, an AOC, and an Acer - the HP cut off the edges while the other two didn't. It cut off 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of the edges when viewed with the blu ray through HDMI while showing a full-edge to-edge picture with playing into VGA input from computer. I thought it was the TV thing too, but I hooked a blu ray player into the HDMI and watched it through the computer running VGA into the monitor as normal and it was pretty much the same.
